Dual Induction DIL38

The Dual Focused Induction DIL38 probe uses a seven-coil focused electromagnetic array to provide two simultaneous conductivity logs, corresponding to “medium” and “deep” radii of investigation in the formation. A high frequency magnetic field from a transmitter coil inside the probe induces an alternating electrical current within the surrounding conductive formation. This current, in turn, induces a voltage within receiver coils in the probe, proportional to the formation conductivity.

The transmitter-receiver spacings determine the depth of investigation of the measurements. Additional focusing coils minimize the contribution of the borehole signal. The probe coil spacings are optimized to achieve high vertical resolution and a deep radius of investigation, with minimal borehole influence when logging in conductive-fluid filled boreholes.

Slim Induction EM25

The Slim Single Focused Induction EM25 probe uses a three-coil focused electromagnetic array to provide a conductivity log.

Borehole Deviation BDV42

The Slimhole Verticality Sonde BDV42 provides continuous measurements of borehole inclination, azimuth and total magnetic field, plus natural gamma as an option. The probe includes a triaxial magnetometer to deduce the probe bearing relative to magnetic north and a triaxial magnetometer to measure inclination. The sensors measurements are computed by the probe processor to give the final borehole inclination and azimuth, and total magnetic field data. Magnetic Susceptibility MAG43

The Magnetic-Susceptibility MAG43 probe is a new development of the industry-standard Bartington Instrument BSS02 product.

It’s a low-frequency device specifically designed for mining applications showing outstanding stability against pressure and temperature variations. This probe relies on a similar principle to the induction probe where a current is induced by an oscillating magnetic field in the probe within a toroïdal zone of formation at some radial distance from the probe coils. The oscillating current produces a secondary field which is detected by the receiver coils. The “in-phase” signal is a measurement of the susceptibility of formations having magnetic properties.

Induced Polarization IP38

The Induced Polarisation IP38 probe uses four electrodes in Wenner array configuration to provide measurement of apparent formation chargeability and resistivity.

The probe induces a current trough the formation by applying a high DC voltage to the outer two electrodes. The current flows through the electrolytes in the formation fluids in pore spaces surrounding non-conducting mineral grains. Sulphides and other metallic mineral grains which are conductors develop a charge separation or polarisation, which increases as the inducting current flows. When the inducting current is turned off, the formation retains a voltage due to polarisation, which gradually decays. This voltage is sensed on the two central electrodes. The area under voltage decay curve (UA and UB) is integrated by the probe microprocessor to give a measure of the formation polarization or chargeability. When the outer electrodes are energised, the voltage that appears at the centre electrode pair is also measured (UE), and is used to compensate the chargeability value for the effects of borehole resistivity.

Focused Electric GUIP38

The Focused Electric GUIP38 probe measures resistivity with an excellent vertical resolution and depth of investigation. The probe includes a central current-source electrode placed between two guard electrodes, maintained at the same potential. Current from the central electrode is constrained to a thin disk by the presence of the two guard electrodes and returns to the cable armor above a 10-meter insulated section. The central electrode potential with respect to a surface voltage reference and the measured current are combined by the probe processor to calculate the apparent formation resistivity.

Natural Gamma/ Temp-Conductivity/ Flowmeter FTC60

This GFTC combination probe provides a continuous, depth based measurement of fluid velocity, temperature and conductivity. An optional natural gamma detector is available for correlation purposes. The probe is equipped with a lightweight anodized aluminum impeller mounted on SS ball bearings. A magnet, mounted on the impeller shaft, actuates low-drag Hall-effect switches inside the probe.

Separate log channels record the uphole and downhole impeller rotation speed. The probe also gives a direct log measurement of cable speed.

The borehole fluid T° measurement uses a fast-response, high sensitivity, platinum resistance sensor. The fluid conductivity measurement cell comprises four gold plated electrodes; these are driven by a constant-voltage source of alternating polarity to avoid cell polarization effects.
